DID YOU KNOW?

Even before Jesus was born,

He was associated with the word peace.

(Isaiah was a prophet in the 8th-century BC.)

Isaiah 9:6 (International Children’s Bible)

A child will be born to us.
God will give a son to us.
He will be responsible for leading the people.

His name will be Wonderful Counsellor, Powerful God,
Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace.

David, the writer of Psalm 34,

also spoke of peace in the Old Testament.

(David won the battle against Goliath and became king around 1000 BC.)

Psalm 34:13-14 (International Children’s Bible)

You must not say evil things.

You must not tell lies.
Stop doing evil and do good.

Look for peace and work for it.

Use a Bible to find out what Jesus said about peace in the four gospels.

‘Peace I leave with you;

my peace I give you.

I do not give to you as the world gives.

and do not be afraid.’

John 14.27

Peace is:

   Pardoning others

   Everyone living in harmony

   Always showing love

   Calming situations

   Ending all hatred

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;

where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

                                      Amen

This half term Christian value is FORGIVENESS

Read the quotation below.

Can you find it in the New Testament in the Bible?

'Just as the Lord has forgiven you,

so you must also forgive others.’

Colossians 3.13

A big thank you to all the children who have already sent in a

Forgiveness Prayer.

They are very thoughtful and are displayed on our website page

‘Share a Prayer’.

      Forgiveness is:

    Forgetting the hurts

    Offering a new beginning

    Restoring a friendship

    Given and received

    Identifying responsibility

    Valuing the truth

    Ending an argument

    Not holding a grudge

    Encouraging honesty

    Saying sorry

    Starting again

Dear Lord,

Thank you for offering forgiveness to all, through Jesus.

Sorry for the times we have been slow to say sorry to others

or not quick enough to forgive.

Please help us to ask for forgiveness when we make a mistake

and to accept an apology kindly.

Amen
